Ann Riggs, DO

Dr. Riggs was born and raised in Warrensburg, Missouri.  She graduated valedictorian from Warrensburg High School in 1994.  She then attended Brigham Young University under an academic and athletic scholarship for the women’s basketball program.  She graduated with a BS in Zoology.  She returned to Kansas City to attend the Kansas City University of Medical Biosciences where she graduated among the top 15% in her class and served as the President of the National Honors Fraternity SIgma Sigma Phi.  She then went to the Via Christi Family Practice Residency Program in Wichita, Kansas.  She was selected as Chief Resident as well as Outstanding 1st and 3rd year resident.  Upon completion of residency she moved to Harrison, Arkansas where she practiced full spectrum family medicine including obstetrics.  After starting her own family she returned to Kansas City to practice.  Since 2009 she has been in Platte City, Missouri practicing traditional outpatient family medicine.  She has fallen in love with the community and surrounding areas.  She is excited to provide high quality care at an affordable price.  She is also a proud Big 8 fan and is willing to offer a $5 discount to anybody who is old enough to appreciate that.

beckie moore

Beckie Moore, APRN

Beckie was born in Wichita, Kansas and raised in Platte County, Missouri. After 12 years in Platte City, Missouri she and her family settled just north of Dearborn, Missouri where she enjoys her time away from patient care on her farm. Beckie graduated valedictorian from North Platte High School in 1983. She has been an RN since 1987. Beckie went on to earn her Master's degree in nursing from the University of Missouri, Kansas City in 1999. As a Family Nurse Practitioner in the Northland for over a decade, Beckie noticed patients interested in and seeking alternative options that were not taught in her traditional western medicine education. Seeking answers and education for herself, she discovered that the University of Arizona offered a two year medical fellowship in Integrative Medicine. Beckie completed the fellowship in 2016. She hopes to augment patient care with this new knowledge base. Her passion is treating root causes of illnesses and promoting wellness at every turn.

Cori Major, Nursing Assistant

Cori was born and raised outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She studied at Temple University and then lived in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2007 she relocated to Platte City, Missouri with her husband and three children. She is a proud mother of twin teenagers and a younger daughter. Cori began working in the medical field in 2012 and joined Direct Medical Care in 2015. Cori loves what she does and has continued her training.  She has become a Cerfitifed Medical Assistant and a Certified Phlebotomist.  Cori is a great asset to the team and has a great passion for helping people. 


Amy Horn, Nursing Assistant

Amy was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and raised in Weatherford, Oklahoma.  She graduated from Weatherford High School in 1991.  After marrying Colby Horn and living in many states for Colby’s career in the beef industry, they raised their 4 children:  Karlye, Colton, Hudson, and Gunner.  They have called Platte City their home for the past nine years.  Amy graduated from John Brown University with a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management.  While staying home and raising all four children, she realized she had a passion for caregiving and wellness.  This discovery led to her pursuing further education in the nursing field and attending classes at Missouri Western State University.  Amy is thrilled to be a part of the team and serve the Platte County community with all their healthcare needs. 


Karrie Strough, Nursing Assistant

Karrie was born and raised in York, Nebraska. After graduating high school, she attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Marketing and Management.  She moved to Kansas City soon after graduation where she worked for a finance company for a number of years. She currently resides in North Kansas City.  Karrie started out as a medical office assistant in 2009 working with Dr. Riggs and transitioned quickly to a nursing assistant.  Karrie has three children and while caring for them is her highest priority, she is always eager and excited to get back to work with our team. Karrie is very dedicated, hardworking, and most of all enjoys interacting with patients.


Karlye Horn, Nursing Assistant

Karlye was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma but has called Platte City home for the last 10 years. She graduated from Platte County High School and went on to play college volleyball at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. After discovering her passion for healthcare, she transferred to the University of Missouri- Kansas City and graduated in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Health Science. Karlye is currently applying to graduate school to become a physician assistant. After traveling to El Salvador and Uganda for mission trips, Karlye discovered her passion for serving the underserved populations. She hopes to one day use her medical training as a physician assistant to serve overseas. As for now, Karlye is enthusiastic to serve the Platte City community and learn more before she heads off to physician assistant school.
