Ann Riggs, DO

Dr. Riggs was born and raised in Warrensburg, Missouri.  She graduated valedictorian from Warrensburg High School in 1994.  She then attended Brigham Young University under an academic and athletic scholarship for the women’s basketball program.  She graduated with a BS in Zoology.  She returned to Kansas City to attend the Kansas City University of Medical Biosciences where she graduated among the top 15% in her class and served as the President of the National Honors Fraternity SIgma Sigma Phi.  She then went to the Via Christi Family Practice Residency Program in Wichita, Kansas.  She was selected as Chief Resident as well as Outstanding 1st and 3rd year resident.  Upon completion of residency she moved to Harrison, Arkansas where she practiced full spectrum family medicine including obstetrics.  After starting her own family she returned to Kansas City to practice.  Since 2009 she has been in Platte City, Missouri practicing traditional outpatient family medicine.  She has fallen in love with the community and surrounding areas.  She is excited to provide high quality care at an affordable price.  She is also a proud Big 8 fan and is willing to offer a $5 discount to anybody who is old enough to appreciate that.

Alexis Sparks, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Lexi is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner who graduated summa cum laude with a Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Central Missouri. Lexi was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Platte County High School. She then obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Missouri Western State University. Following graduation, she worked at The University of Kansas Health System as a nurse in cardiology and pre/post operative surgery. Upon completion of graduate school, she worked as an oncology nurse practitioner focusing on leukemia and lymphoma, and blood and marrow transplant. This experience was valued but also allowed her to gain a deep appreciation for preventive care, wellness promotion, and comprehensive disease management. She is excited to be following this passion at Direct Medical Care. Lexi loves developing relationships with patients and looks forward to providing high quality, individualized care. In her free time she enjoys being active and spending time outside with her husband and son.

Anna Meagher, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Anna was born and raised in Prairie Village, Kansas. She attended St. Teresa's Academy and graduated from the University of Kansas with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Upon graduation, she took a position delivering patient centered care at the University of Kansas Health System in the pre/post-surgery unit. She graduated from the University of Missouri- Kansas City with her Masters of Science in Nursing and is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner.

She strives to provide quality care by listening and focusing on each person's individual health history and concerns. Anna aims to work collaboratively with her patients through education and open communication. Anna has always been a strong patient advocate, and looks forward to working with you.

Karrie Strough, Nursing Assistant

Karrie was born and raised in York, Nebraska. After graduating high school, she attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Marketing and Management.  She moved to Kansas City soon after graduation where she worked for a finance company for a number of years. She currently resides in North Kansas City.  Karrie started out as a medical office assistant in 2009 working with Dr. Riggs and transitioned quickly to a nursing assistant.  Karrie has three children and while caring for them is her highest priority, she is always eager and excited to get back to work with our team. Karrie is very dedicated, hardworking, and most of all enjoys interacting with patients.

Amy Horn, Nursing Assistant

Amy was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and raised in Weatherford, Oklahoma.  She graduated from Weatherford High School in 1991.  After marrying Colby Horn and living in many states for Colby’s career in the beef industry, they raised their 4 children:  Karlye, Colton, Hudson, and Gunner.  They have called Platte City their home for the since 2009.  Amy graduated from John Brown University with a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management.  While staying home and raising all four children, she realized she had a passion for caregiving and wellness.  This discovery led to her pursuing further education in the nursing field and attending classes at Missouri Western State University.  Amy is thrilled to be a part of the team and serve the Platte County community with all their healthcare needs. 

Trinda Wolfe, LPN

Trinda was born and raised in Texas. After graduating high school, she attended Mclennan Community College in Waco where she earned an Associates degree in Communications and Professional Certification in Nursing. After working in public health for 2.5 years, she married a railroader and moved to the Kansas City area where she worked as a float nurse with Saint Luke's Medical Group. She later took a three year hiatus from nursing to care for her three young children. During this time, Trinda became the first in her family to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Park University. She currently resides in Weston, MO. Trinda is happy to put the stethoscope on and take care of patients again.

Donna Schroeder, CMA

Donna is a Certified Medical Assistant and graduated with honors from Wellspring School of Allied Health. She was born in Southern California but grew up in Northwest Arkansas.  In 2000 she made Kansas City her home. For the last 15 years she has been a Licensed Massage Therapist but decided to further her passion in caring for others and entered medical assisting school.  She knew her background in helping others control and/or manage pain through a holistic way would be an asset in the medical field.

She loves finding adventures with her two children camping, hiking, or going to the lake as often as they can.  Donna is grateful to be a part of the Direct Medical Team and do her part in caring for all patients. 

Missy Schultz, Administrative Assistant

Missy grew up in Grand Island, Nebraska and received her college education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a degree in Elementary Education. After working in Nebraska school districts in Grand Island and Omaha, Missy decided to stay at home to raise her 3 children. During this time she worked part time as an Access Representative at Omaha’s Methodist Hospital. After a move to Platte City and her youngest child began school, Missy went back to work full-time in healthcare where she served in multiple front office administrative assistant roles. Most recently she was a referral and prior authorization coordinator.

Missy has 3 sons, all graduates of Platte County High School. She and her husband, Tim, have spent most of their free time following their boys in their high school and college athletic careers.

Missy is thrilled to be a part of the team at Direct Medical Care where providers and patients can truly work together to choose their healthcare path.

Alyssa Becker, RN

Alyssa grew up in Platte City, MO. She attended the Northland Career Center during high school where she became a Certified Nursing Assistant. She graduated from the Northland Career Center and Platte County High School and then pursued her nursing degree. Alyssa completed her Registered Nurse degree through Rasmussen University. Following graduation she worked at Saint Luke's North hospital in the med/surg unit. She has a passion for the caring and wellbeing of others and is excited to grow as a nurse at Direct Medical Care.

She enjoys watching the Chiefs games and being outdoors with friends and family.
